Choosing a store or stores that you already love is important, but you want to be sure that those stores will be convenient to at least most of your guests. If you have friends and family spread far and wide, you wouldn't want to register only at a specialty boutique in your city.

Also make sure you will be able to register for gifts in a wide variety of price ranges. Your poor student friend will be happy to buy you the napkin rings you love, while your parents might want to buy you an entire set of China.

Look into how long your store registry will remain on the books. It is quite common for friends who are unable to attend the wedding to want to purchase a gift for you after the fact. Also, some of the items that have not been purchased for wedding gifts can be given on other occasions throughout the year.

With some bridal registry stores there is the option open for the bride and groom to purchase the remaining unpurchased items at a discount. This is very helpful for the couple that doesn't get some of their favorite or most necessary items as gifts, and can help you to have the complete home that you dreamed of before the wedding, without breaking the bank.
